Bringing it all together

Product Manager (former VP of Products at JotSpot)

Many of you have been waiting for JotSpot to re-emerge, integrated
into Google — and now it's happening. Here's the
story:

In the last 10 years, the way all of us work has changed. We've
grown accustomed to always being connected through email and
instant messaging. Consequently, people are working together in
teams more often, with larger groups, and with others who may be in
different parts of the country or the world. We are shifting our
focus from personal to team productivity. It's less about
"you" and more about "us."

But with this explosion in collaboration, how do you bring together
everything your team needs to work? How do you take information,
whether it is on your desktop or online, and share it with specific
groups of people — your team, the company, the public?

Meet Google Sites, the newest addition to the Google Apps product
suite. It was designed to allow you to easily create a network of
sites and share them with whomever you choose. Google Sites lets
you pull together information from across Google Apps by embedding
documents, spreadsheets, presentations, videos, and calendars in
your sites. Of course, we also harness the power of Google search
technology so your search results are always fast and
relevant.

What does it take to start using Google Sites? Just a click of a
button — that's it. Here's an overview with more
detail:

We're just finishing up the code to migrate existing JotSpot
customer wikis to Google sites, so if you're already a JotSpot
customer, you'll be hearing from us soon on how to make the
switch.

Salesforce for Google Apps

Posted by Scott McMullan, Google Apps
Partner Lead, Google Enterprise

A little less than a year ago, we href="http://www.google.com/intl/en/press/pressrel/salesforce_alliance.html"
id="xvmx" >partnered with Salesforce.com to create Salesforce
Group Edition featuring Google AdWords. It combines
Salesforce.com’s CRM applications with AdWords to make it easier
for businesses to generate leads, track, and close them.

Since then, people have offered up a constant stream of requests to
streamline even more of the CRM process. At the top of list are
everyday tasks like improved efficiency sending and sharing account
emails, easier ways to create and share documents and
presentations, and simpler ways to schedule meetings and
events.

To address these requests, we set out to collaborate on another
product integration. Live today, we're happy to unveil href="http://www.salesforce.com/products/google/apps/" >Salesforce
for Google Apps, a new product for all of those using
Salesforce.com available at no additional charge. It brings the
collaboration and communications features of Google Apps directly
into the user experience of Salesforce.com, and is focused on
streamlining the activities most frequently requested by our users.
(There's href="http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2008/04/run-even-more-of-your-business-in-cloud.html" >
more detail on our Enterprise Blog.)

Here's a quick look at the problems we're trying to solve
with Salesforce for Google Apps:

height="355" width="425" />

Regarding improvements, we'd like to remind developers that
these new features — as well as those announced today by our
partners href="http://www.astadia.com/about/astadia_press_release-salesforce.com-google-products-launch.aspx" >
Astadia and href="http://www.appirio.com/about/pr_products_041408.php" >Appirio
– were created using our respective open APIs. We share with
Salesforce.com a commitment to make the web the best platform for
application innovation.

Thanks to everyone for your good ideas so far. We hope you'll
continue to href="http://ideas.salesforce.com/popular/google" >share your
thoughts

3 short weeks

Postini

Three weeks ago today was the official close of Google's
acquisition of Postini — and what a three weeks it's been.
"Official close" meant that integration work could
legally begin, and so the Google Apps team and Postini team have
been burning the midnight oil to get our services integrated. Now,
Google Apps customers, Postini customers and everyone else can see
href="http://www.google.com/intl/en/press/pressrel/apps_postini_20071003.html" >
the results.

Postini security and compliance capabilities are officially part of
Google Apps Premier
Edition
. Google Apps customers get these services for free.
Postini customers get an extended trial period for Apps. New
customers can choose their entry point: Apps (including href="http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/admins/security.html" >Postini
security and compliance) or any of the standalone Postini
services.

The benefits of software as a service are numerous — that's
why we're seeing a huge interest in Apps. Businesses of all
sizes are asking for these services, and we need to help customers
embrace Apps without loss of features, functions, or security.
I'm proud that Postini plays a role in this offering.

Postini was founded in 1999 with the vision of transforming how IT
organizations consumed security and compliance products. We
recognized the service delivery model brings huge leverage, and
36,000 customers around the world validated that vision. Google
Enterprise is now scaling that vision. No one knows what the next
three weeks will bring, but we're all excited to be part of
it. height="1" width="1" />
