We're always interested in supporting computer science
education, and in encouraging top talent from diverse backgrounds.
Which is why we've just sponsored the Sixth Annual href="http://www.spelman.edu/~sccso/" >Spelman
College Computer Science Olympiad
for the second consecutive
year. In all, 16 teams from eight Historically Black Colleges &
Universities (HBCUs), or Association of Computer/Information
Sciences and Engineering Departments at Minority Institutions
(ADMI) participated.

These teams competed in five computer science-related events. One
of these was a href="http://www.google.com/webmasters/gadgets/"
>Google Gadgets
competition, where the
assignment was to build an interactive, creative and useful Google
Gadget. Students brought their semi-completed gadgets and got
troubleshooting advice and tips at a hack session, where Googlers
and students worked together into the night to perfect them. The
following day, each team presented their gadget to our panel of
three judges (myself and 2 other Googlers).

We chose first, second and third place winners, whose gadgets will
be uploaded to the href="http://www.google.com/ig/directory?synd=open"
>iGoogle Directory
soon:

First place: Morehouse College Team 2 (Lawrence Forrester,
Kevin Walton, Mark Slade, Michael Davis) href="http://kevin.ultinets.net/gadget/hopstop/hopstop.xml"
>

Second place: Old Dominion University Monarchs (Duc Nguyen,
Cesar Barbieri, Darrin Lee, Nicole Jackson)

Third place: Spelman College YOMamaBoards (Jonecia Keels,
Jazmine Miller, Paige McReynolds, Arielle Baine)

It was inspiring to see the energy, enthusiasm, and skill of these
future computer scientists — our congratulations to all the teams
that participated.

Online ad-serving tests

Manager

We're always experimenting and testing ways to deliver relevant
and new kinds of ads, and as part of that, we recently started
running a test of an ad serving technology that will help us
understand online ad serving better, and allow us to experiment
with some new approaches to privacy for third-party ad servers. The
privacy features we'll test in these experiments follow some
recently-announced policies, such as a href="http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/cookies-expiring-sooner-to-improve.html"
id="h-8r" >shorter expiration date for the cookie set on your
computer and href="http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2007/06/how-long-should-google-remember.html" >
anonymization of the logs data after 18 months.

In our ad-serving tests, we're introducing an href="http://www.google.com/ads/gcc_privacy.html" >opt-out
mechanism so people can opt out of the test ad-serving cookie
if they wish. In addition, we’re going to experiment with ways the
industry could provide improved transparency for consumers and
providing users with additional controls over the data gathered by
ad servers. Some of the ideas we're exploring include:

using "crumbled" cookies, so that the data typically
associated with one unique identifying number or "cookie
ID" will be broken up among multiple different cookies and
diffuse the ad history of individual users;

providing better forms of notice within ads, to help users
understand who is serving the ads they see, and what data is being
collected; and

giving users the ability to provide feedback to us about the
ads they like and don't like.

Like all experiments, these ideas may or may not work out. And they
won't be effective unless the industry adopts them — we are
not likely to implement these ideas alone. But we are excited to
start innovating in this area for our advertising customers and for
our users. We welcome your href="mailto:testadserving@google.com" >feedback. height="1" width="1" />

2006-9-26Every month always has Google AdSense so a few days

Filed under: AdSense — Wrote by Lees on Friday, November 30th, 2007 @ 8:43 pm

It is the day that reached to pay.

Before paying to be in 25 as a result of Google AdSense of before two months, this month arrived however still awaiting today, everybody is impatient.

Commensurate maternal aunt is same, always have early, have evening. : ) should come only glad!

Pay probably flow:

Reach 100 dollars last month,
This month begins 25 days to pay,
Pay the history shows: Paying,
Pay the history shows: Pay,
Get check,
Go to a bank collection,
Pocket is how.

Cycle is very long, need patience…
